Escalator - a separate type of handling equipment, made in the form of a ladder made of heavy-duty steel. The steps with an anti-slip coating are located at an inclination of 30-35 °. Tunnel escalators are used at deep underground stations, as well as in some cities with complex relief areas (as an alternative to funiculars). Due to the long length, the requirements for the strength of the construction, the reliability of the brakes and the safety of the mechanisms in the tunnel escalators are much higher than those of the floor escalators. The main difference is that wide balustrades are mounted between the tapes.
The speed of the equipment is determined in accordance with the maximum performance for the carriage of passengers, as well as the safety conditions at the entrance and exit. It can be from 0.4 m / s to 1 m / s. Acceleration at the initial stage of the movement should not exceed 0.6 m / s, during the launch - 0.75 m / s. The braking speed at the ascent is no more than 1 m / s, when descending - not more than 0.6 m / s. In the case of emergency braking, the deceleration speed should not exceed 2 m / s.
The angle of inclination of 30 ° ensures safety for passengers when climbing over 7 m. The step height is 200 mm, and the platform is 400 mm. The width of the step in the floor models is 0,5-0,75 m, in the tunnel models - 0,9-1 m. The length of the escalators along the vertical depends on the size of the room or the depth of the station. Up to 65 m of height, one is installed, and at a higher altitude - two escalators are successively.
The performance of the escalator is determined by the occupancy of the steps by the passengers and the speed of movement, but does not depend on the height of its ascent. With a stage step of 4 m, 2 passengers in one stage (taking into account uneven filling of stages) and a maximum speed of 0.9 m / s, the escalator can move 8100 people per hour. In the design process, repel the conditions of maximum flow of passengers for 15 minutes per hour of rush. At the station's subway stations and transplants on the lines, 4-band models are installed, in other cases 3 tapes suffice. At the request of the customer, the escalator is equipped with additional options.
Travolators, like escalators, can also be attributed to hoisting and transport equipment. However, there is a significant difference between their constructions - the travolator is made in the form of a continuous track, which also moves continuously. Equipment is installed in areas of large concentrations of people - in airports, subways, major train stations, museums, hypermarkets, shopping and entertainment centers.
Types of travolators
Travolators are divided into two main types:
Pallet - a continuous series of rubber or metal plates with an anti-slip ribbed surface;
Moving chain - metal or rubber chains moving on metal rollers.
Each of them can be horizontal or inclined. Horizontal models are used to move between two points within a single storey. The inclined travolators are designed to move passengers from the upper level to the lower one, or vice versa. Absence of steps allows to move freely to people with disabilities and to transport volume cargoes. Accordingly, transport equipment of this type differs from escalators with increased capacity. There are also combined views, when a part of the canvas is in the horizontal plane, and then goes into an inclined one.
